    Legal waivers? HELP!

Does anybody know how to go about getting waivers for people to sign when filming? Needless to say, I'm an amateur film maker that creates movies on little-to-no-budget, so I'd like to find waivers to have people sign basically stating that they know I'll be using their likeness in a film without giving them any royalties or payments. Is there a website or something that I can get these for free/cheap?

PJoseph, I'm kind of looking in your direction. Thanks for any help, guys.

Perhaps the Guerilla Filmmaker's Guide can be of use, that's what I've used as a guide for doing my own releases for my short films.

Essentially it says I can use their image in the film, and online, or on TV or whatever, as well as that no money was offered or inferred for their involvement etc.

That kinda stuff. But aye, The Guerilla Filmmaker's Guide would be my suggestion for release form help, base it on their ones.

Hey, at least you gave me .5%. Surely that's better than Russell Brand?

    Mike,

If you type in a google search, "talent release form" or "location release form" you will find all sorts of sample ones you can use to write up your own and print.

    like this -

    http://www.indiana.edu/~telecom/talent_release_form.pdf

    or this -

    http://www.cybercollege.com/location.htm

Those will generally work for what you are doing. Basically, you are asking someone to release to you their visual and audio likeness for your project. Generally, if you are shooting a no budget and you ask friends, their release is implied for personal use - however if you are attempting to do something larger with your film (sell or license any of YOUR rights as the owner of the film) you should get a release for all people appearing in the film, as well as locations and music.

I would take some sample ones and then make up a simple one that people can easily understand without feeling the need to have a lawyer look it over.

    Best,
