Here's a little excerpt from my novella. Enjoy! MORTAL GODS Gregory closed his eyes and dreamt of a blue ball--which materialized in his hand. He sat alone in his sandbox in the backyard, enclosed by a solid wood panel fence and Japanese maples, red as flames. A breeze swept through, carrying the chirrup of birds, stirring his soft golden hair. In the house, his parents were arguing. That's all they ever did. The ball wasn't perfect, wasn't exactly what he'd imagined. The blue had faded. And the rubber bore teeth marks, as if something had chewed on it. He threw the ball into the grass. It bounced, landed, and rolled to a stop against a pile of other faded blue balls bearing teeth marks. Gregory held out his hand, closed his eyes, and tried again.
