David Early from Dawn of the Dead passed on

Jim Krut posted this on FB today:-

I'm sorry to report that our good friend David Early, a talented actor, teacher and gracious human being, has passed away. The family is still making arrangements and an announcement and article will appear shortly in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette with details of the services. If I hear of other information before that time, I'll pass it along for his friends and fans.

Rest in peace, my friend, the travails of this world are behind you. Thank you for the gifts you have given each of us.

Oh man. That opening scene to Dawn still gets me. Sets the rest of the movie up perfectly.

    RIP David.

I agree, the opening of the film sets a perfect tone. Thank David for help doing that. =O)

Yeah, just saw Jim's status and came here to share it myself. Co-star David Crawford is a friend and I'm sure he'll drop some kind words of his own later. They reenacted their scene together at a convention recently. Shame.

He finished as he started - His IMDB page shows Dawn of the Dead as his first flick, has his last role (2012) was as a news reporter on another zombie flick, "Zombie Mutation"...

    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2388823/

Production lasted 5 years and in total the shooting budget was just £5000. It features small appearances by genre veteran's Robert Englund, David Early and more. Director Adam A Park stated he tried to make a bleak dead pan no budget mini zombie epic, filming lasted 3 years and took place all over the UK & Germany. Its set for release early 2013.
Look again at that dot. That's here. That's home. That's us. On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every mother and father, hopeful child, inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every "superstar," every "supreme leader," every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there--on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam. Sad news indeed - as others have said, his performance in Dawn was very memorable to say the least. RIP, good Sir.

Sad news, but I couldn't help but think of his few small lines in Zack and Miri Make a Porno and laugh a bit. Never expected to see him in a movie screamin "take it in the pus!"...

David sent me an autographed picture in the mail years ago. That was very nice of him! At that time I had asked him if he wanted me to make a new website for him and he said yes! I worked on one at that time and he said he liked it! I dont think he ever used it as his official site though. I got a picture of me and him in Monroeville around here somewhere. I think I may go look for it now. Godspeed David Early/

Oh yeah, I'd forgotten about that cameo - weird and cool at the same time.

His performance as "White" in the "They're Creeping Up On You" segment of Creepshow was pretty memorable too...

Sad. He wasn't even that old.

This was a well done obit.

That is legitimately depressing. He and David Foster just tore up that opening scene of Dawn; amidst all the chaos, it's hard to divert your attention from their dialogue.
    Life After: The Arising

In a scientific and spiritual sense, humanity has its world ordered, but that order slowly descends into chaos when something defies the tenets of both, leaving the events of human history divided into life before and life after the bodies of the dead began to reanimate.

A college student comes home to be confronted by something he’d only read about in fiction and seen in movies: Zombies. Despite lungs beset by asthma and a total lack of survival skills, his lifelong desire to endure an undead apocalypse sees him unite a small group of acquaintances, but with the town quarantined as emergency infrastructure breaks down, everyone will have to grow up fast if they want to see a life after the arising....

Oh wow, my favorite part of that movie ... and he got to work with E.G Marshall; who was not only a consumate actor, but had a great voice for radio. I used to listen to Marshall when he hosted CBS Radio Mystery Theatre back in the late 70's. While I didn't follow Early's career as much, what I did see him in was certainly memorable for this movie geek.
