    RIP Roger Corman

He made many excellent "bad" movies. He was 98.

98 is a good age! Hope he was as fit and well as possible until then...
Look again at that dot. That's here. That's home. That's us. On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every mother and father, hopeful child, inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every "superstar," every "supreme leader," every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there--on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam. That's a great movie. It's got a lot of Jaws in it, but it's actually a very well done 'rip-off' with genuinely good characters and story, plus a whole bunch of T&A and gory violence - and the monsters look fantastic. That last act chaos at the town festival is just fantastic low budget filmmaking.

I saw him on a recent episode of The Last Drive-In (it was a recording from summer 2023). You could see how he was more physically frail than just a couple years prior to that, slightly slower on putting his point across, but he was still firing out the stories and bright-eyed.
