    Exclamation Multiple Accounts

This is one part of the rules which seems to be most overlooked by members, it states:

This means, everyone here is allowed ONE account only. i thought this was pretty clear but apparently its not. we have many ways to catch cloned accounts and are getting reports of them every other day.

if you have a problem with your account, activation email not sent for example, contact us and we'll deal with it.

if you want your username changing, contact us and we'll do it.

if someone is bothering you, sending you private messages or harrassing you in some way. contact us and we'll deal with it.

but no-one is permitted to have 2 accounts. no-one.

It all begins to make sense now...

Question though: At another site I set up one account for myself and my mother's BF set up one for himself, using a different computer in the same house. A friend in Boca (a city away) also set up an account and the webmaster claimed I was all three accounts. Does that mean that all three accounts were using the same ISP? BTW, I only accessed my account from this particular computer, but I did access it from my buddy's.

most sites use IP's to trace multiple accounts, which is bad becuase IP's can easilly be fooled. if your in the same area (neighbourhood or even town in some cases) or on the same network (ISP server) a IP trace will put you together, also if your using AOL, which recycles IP addresses so alot of people appear to be using the same one regardless of distance.

also its easy to use a proxy server to fool a site.

Here, IP traces are a secondary... our first line of detection is a secret for now, but it traces you and alerts us if 2 members log in from the same computer only.

Killer, that's a much better system to use and will definately work better. It also seems a lot more indicative of multiple accounts, rather than that BS ISP tracker.

Are you planning bans here or just warnings?

we've already been banning. surely you've noticed all the names which are banned without any posts?

at the moment we're banning the second name and giving warning points to the first name.

I'll send you a crisp $100 bill if you were to put the names of those with double accounts who've been padding their reps up in a sticky here...

I know the seceret!!!! I won't give it out though, that wouldn't be right.

P.S. It is only an educated guess, but I am 99% sure I am right as it is one of the only ways to know that a person is using one specific computer for both accounts.

It sounds like a much better system to use, as I know first-hand how the other way can give false positives.

well seeing as we get alerted straight away when the second account is made, they rarely have enough time before one of us acts

We don't wish to give too much away about the secret systems employed to spot duplicate accounts, but let's just say if you spot a badger running around your room wearing lederhosen, don't be concerned!
Look again at that dot. That's here. That's home. That's us. On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every mother and father, hopeful child, inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every "superstar," every "supreme leader," every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there--on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam.
