My Next film - NOT DEADLANDS 3 - instead - All In The Game...

I have decided to shoot another film before I start Deadlands 3. This short format urban crime drama takes place in East Baltimore, MD which will also serve as the real shooting locations. The cast is made up of local actors Kelvin Page, Nelson Irizarry and Daniel Ross, plus cast members of the HBO series The Wire Chris Clanton (played Savino Seasons 1, 4, & 5) Miciaih Jones (played Little Man (season 1 12 episodes) We are also in talk with Trey Chaney who played Poot and a few other know and major characters from The Wire to appear in this flick. Shooting begins March 12th 2011 at the Under The Bridge Lounge in East Baltimore, then moves on to Eastside Vacant home city block locations for further shoots. Filming is expected to wrap in April 2011. The film running time should be 25 minutes. The story as about an up & coming East Baltimore drug dealer who takes it upon himself to eliminate the competition at any cost... including, KIDNAP torture and many other maniacal means to dispatch his competition... however, his appetite for power and control turns out to be larger than his available resources and he ends up with a very rude awakening. Expect a You Tube presentation of the finished product by late summer early fall 2011

Sounds cool, to be sure... But I was so looking forward to the third film... oh well, I can wait a bit longer, I suppose. Good luck with this one!

Sounds cool indeed. While I'm not familiar with The Wire, it'll be interesting to see how this pans out.

Sounds like a nice change of pace, Deej. You understand, tho', that folks are gonna bitch about how "This isn't a zombie film like we demand of our favorite Directors", and then they'll all turn on you when Deadlands 3 is released for not being the film that they would make. Not namin' any names, you know.

Meet the Cast promo - Part 1 Noiiice. So it's going to be a feature film, eh? I'd thought it was a short film. Looking forward to seeing how this one shapes up over time. Also, nice camera work - what camera was being used and how did you get the out-of-focus background look?

You pick a lens with a short focal length, sit your subject some distance in front of the background, focus on your subject and - bam - out of focus background.

Used a PENTAX K-X to film that with an 18 - 200MM Lens, but what Kraken said is how it is done.

You can even use a zoom and zoom in and set your focus if you don't have and nice primes... Or on DV you can go with a dof adapter.

1st 2 days of shooting in the can... Had some image quality issues with Day 1 & 2 maybe due to ISO settings on all cameras, which I hope to correct with subsequent shoots, but I will have a teaser trailer online by weeks end I hope.

Here is a taste... A rough edit, NOT FINAL on Sound or Pacing of what we shot on Sunday night. This clip is also severely truncated, because it contains a major plot point, and also had a scene in which The driver and a call girl were snorting coke, and she was giving the guy a blow job, which I of course couldn't put on FB.
