Improved 360 controller coming this November

The controller will only be available with the new Play & Charge Kit that will launch on November 9th for US $64.99. Took em long enough! Now I can go revisit some old XBLA games and play them as they were meant to be.

Help me out with the D pad here. Why is this an improvement?

The original d-pad was completely inaccurate and only had 4 points of impact (up, down, left, right). This new one not only pops out for better feedback, but will make it much easier to control 2D games and fighters because your thumb won't be sliding around. Compare PS3's d-pad to 360's, it's like night and day. This is a step in the right direction. Just wish it didn't cost an arm and a leg.

Playing street fighter and mortal kombat should be more enjoyable as well. You can say that again. D Pad on the standard controller is fine as an adjunct to the directional sticks and triggers, but it's so very limited.

Ah, I see. Never really noticed much of a difference, myself. I guess I would'nt if I never play the arcade games on Live. Good news for you guys, though. Expensive...but good news.

Truthfully, I don't really need a highly functioning D Pad, myself. I don't play levelers or old school style games so much on Live, it's just really apparent when you do try how poorly the current D Pad works.

bought fucking time, street fighter 2 is unplayable on the current d pad you need to fight with to use.

yeah, they ought to give these things for free for anyone who's already bought any game such as SSFFII, i don't think i ever made it past the 3rd fighter without quitting in frustration over how shitty the controls were with the xbox controller. way over-priced, though. no way i'm shelling out an extra 15 bucks for a controller just to go back and play a few games the way they were meant to be played. wonder if these controllers are going to be packaged with future xbox's or they are going to be sold seperately...
