Just watched it and shot on over here to see the buzz and... nothing? Maybe it's only just been uploaded and I'm one of the first to post?

So far, I like what I'm seeing - lots of action, gore and people at loggerheads; proper old-school Romero. The video quality, sound effects, etc. did all seem a little rough around the edges but it's important to note that the film hasn't been through post production yet, so that probably the raw footage we're looking at. Some of the acting and lines were also a bit goofy, but in a fun Day of the Dead-type way.

I'm actually getting quite excited now!!

    Awesome.

Looks great to me so far. I am loving the fact that it looks like a proper film and not in first person. I know we already figured out that it wouldn't be in first person, but it's cool to see it.

Wow, can't tell you how excited this makes me! Incidentally, do I spy a neck staff like in Day?

I don't really see how it looks cheap. I keep reading that it looks cheap, but it looks like a normal film to me.

It's filmed in a digital format, which to many people make it look cheap. Me, I like digital. And I'm sure they can make it look nice with the color correction.

Yeah, it looks cheap because it's not been through post production yet so the colours looks a little bland, a lot of sound effects are missing (punch to head) or dubbed in with simple temp effects (gunshots), also the light-dark range is quite narrow and it hasn't yet been given that "shot-on-film" grain. The trailer has obviously been composed from a rough working edit of the film, and everyone can rest assured that even $100 million Hollywood blockbusters go through the same process and that these "issues" are routinely ironed out in post-production.

I actually think the movie looks great for film that's not even finished yet.

It looks alright. Well, better than Diary at least.

isn't anyone else bothered by half the people in the movie being dressed like it's 1885? stetsons? fucking duster coats? i half expected to hear the old clint eastwood western sound cue. and... was that two dudes having a square off gunfight there at one point??? give me a fucking break.

granted we aren't sure of the exact location of this movie but since diary was in PA and the army dude is supposed to be the same guy, he probably couldn't have gone that damn far from PA. that to me makes the costumes that many of the people in this trailer are wearing absolutely fucking ridiculous.

at least it isn't in first person...

My question would be why release this? I highly doubt this was a teaser, probably more like an investor reel that someone should have kept a tighter lid on. They should never have let it be viewed by the public. It didn't help clear up any confusion about the story or show off anything that couldn't have been shown better in a production still.

Only thing I can think of is they are short on money.

Now personally, after Land and Diary I have rather low expectations for this film. If GAR dials back his social commentary to an quiet subtext like Dawn/Night instead of the in your face you can't miss it style in Land/Diary then maybe it might be ok. The story idea is an interesting one and could be cool. Kirkman handled this exact issue very well in the Walking Dead comic and I'm fine with structuring it as a western even though it doesn't really make sense for an island in the North East somewhere. But I'm not sure GAR is up to the task. Time will tell.

Of course I'll be there as soon as it opens and order it as soon as it's available, though they better not make me wait 6 months for a Blueray like Diary.

It supposed to be set on an island *somewhere* off the Eastern seaboard of the US, I'm guessing near Virginia or North Carolina. The characters on the island are, I believe, supposed to be a community of cattle farmers and rednecks. I have no idea how cattle farmers and rednecks on the east coast of America dress, so I can't really comment on that.

Alright...who pissed in Mike's cornflakes this morning??

I personally see no problem with the clothing. Maybe that's because I live in the southeast, though. I see people dressed like this all the time....

And is the army dude supposed to be the same character from Diary? In Diary he wasn't Brubaker from Land, so I was thinking he was just another friend of Romero's playing a different character. He's like the new Taso/Pilato or something. Just not as cool.
