Watched it tonight and in my opinion, that movie was boring for quite a while before anything really happened. I know what some will say, "Well, it was based on actual events and all..." Based? Maybe about 2% of it was based on it. Mostly the film was based on the 'Backpacker Killer' named Ivan Milat. http://www.crimelibrary.com/serial_k.../milat/18.html He killed about seven people, and the one survivor got away by jumping out of his vehicle and flagging a woman down on a street, which I believe was in a town somewhere. The man was caught and convicted. None of the $hit portrayed in the movie was real except for the fact that: 1) The victims were backpackers, and 2) The killer severed at least one of his victim's spine to immoblize her. The rest as far as I know, was fabricated like every other bull$hit 'based on actual events' hoopla like 'The Texas Chainsaw Massacre' based on Ed Gein and 'The Amityville Horror', that was really changed from the original. The biggest farce I seen so far besides Wolf Creek was Domino. 'Based' is a loosely used term nowadays. More like 'Mostly based on fictional accounts of an actual real story just to attempt to turn a profit'. Dawg

The only thing in Domino based in reality was that Domino Harvey was a real model turned bounty hunter. As for Wolf Creek, it did fall pretty flat, but I liked the "Head on a stick" scene for some sick reason. I actually laughed when I saw that for some sick reason.

Cool little factoid... Rumor is Wolfcreek was shot on the Panasonic DVX100 MiniDV System. I haven't seen it, but I have one of those cameras and I can vouch for the quality of the picture.

Well, I liked it. Wasn't the best thing ever, but in comparison to Hostel is was much better (in the realm of "silly city kids in foreign territory" horror). And yes, Domino was really stupid. I was looking forward to it (as soon as I heard Keira Knightly + lapdance I was interested) ... but *sigh* all that bloody hand-cranked camera work is just lame, the film just gave me a headache from being so bloomin' naff. So very glad I didn't pay for it...like how I'm so VERY glad I didn't pay for True Crime: New York City!

I just rented it the other day...and everyone in the room hated it, including me. The first 45 mins. were completely pointless and VERY BORING. The actions taken by the characters were not very realistic nor fresh. A very bland movie, not outstanding in any way. Hostel on the other hand (since someone compared the 2) is MUCH better, in my opinion. Softcore porn aside, at least Hostel stood out in some way...the gore and unique idea. The acting may not have been top notch, but it wasn't as bad as Wolf Creek's. The only major gripe I had with Hostel is the ending...fell flat, very flat.

I want to see a real movie based on Ed Gein. A movie was made a long time ago I think it was called deranged but i like to see a modern movie about Ed Gein with real actors with real acting talent. Ed Gein was an amazing serial killer and makes for a better story then The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

I agree the beginning partying scenes took too long and could've been spent doing something better but... The killing method in the movie rocked... paralyzing the chick and then of course you know what he's going to do to her ... uber scary and painful in more ways than one ...and technically it was how some of the actual murders took place The guy that in reality escaped but no where near a town he was basically in BFE and fortunate that another car came along who picked him up... he was never a suspect in the crimes however in fact when he reported his near abduction to the police when they were seeking info on the backpacker killer they didn't even call him back... it wasnt until way later when they had their suspect that they finally reached him The scary thing is that because in general two different killing methods were used to kill many of the victims the FBI suggested that there were two different killers. The Milat family was full of people who broke the law regularly and the man who turned in his brother Ivan was the one who gave police the backpack of a missing backpacker. Odd that when previously questioned he made no mention he had evidence and knew of no info on the crime and yet he gives the cops the backpack and says his brother did it? What did his brother do toss him the bag and say its festivus day here's a present? Despite the overload of evidence found in Ivans home I still believe at least one of his brothers was also involved and simply stopped killing because of course... who'd the police turn to next? The movie itself was very loosely based on the real events but just getting a story out there like that was fantastic because its a true story about people getting knocked off in the outback... the truth is more terrifying than any story people can make up

The movie was reccomended by a couple friends so last night I settled down to it with a couple beers expecting some gritty realism and the movie was just a real flop. It could have been cut short so easily if when she nailed the guy in the side of the throat, she nabbed the shotgun and cartridge belt hanging up behind her..Shoot em in the head and they stay dead Try wrapping a bandana around that. Also on Ed Gein..There is a realistic movie its not to great but its more realistic than him being like buffalo bill..Anyway jus type in Ed Gein (2001) Review and the movie will pop up.

Ed Gein (2001) was pretty decent, I've got it on DVD, it's not a classic, but it's far from cack...unlike the 2007 Ed Gein film "The Butcher of Plainfield" starring ... wait for it ... KANE HODDER, as Ed Gein...could the film be more mis-cast?! Yes, the Kane Hodder version was absolutely atrocious, avoid it at all costs...the Steve Railsback (2001) version though, which came first (hobnobviously) is pretty good, SR certainly nails the character.

This was another learning step for me. Do not buy until you reearch!!! This movie didn't even have 2% of the "true" story. I think the real deal was a guy that liked the boys a lil more than the ladies. Tied them up and killed them, none of this crap. It had potential but i think it laid a gigantic duce.
