    Post your horror movie collections!

Time to flex our proverbial muscles. Please try to make your lists in alphabetical order. Also, this is strictly my DVD collection. I have many more on VHS, but I don't even touch them anymore as I don't have a VCR.

You got me, dude. I know Zombieland isn't anywhere near horror but it sits in my horror collection, simply for having [some] zombies in it. I guess I should probably remove it...

Also, YES! I love the Poltergeist sequels! I know they're crap, but they're such a huge part of my childhood that I still love them to this day, even though I can now see all of their flaws. I actually showed part 2 to a friend recently, who had never seen it, and she actually said "I thought it was better than the first one!"

Anyway, quit slacking and post your collection!

I dont have much of a collection. Off the top of my head...

The dead films and their remakes
    The Fly
    The Thing
    The Devil's Rejects
    Halloween
    The Mist
Close Encounters of the Third Kind(?)
    Texas Chainsaw Massacre 1&2
    Jaws
    From Dusk Till Dawn
    American Psycho
    The Omen

EDIT: A few more i've thought of...

The Alien Anthology - Buy this blu ray collection. INCREDIBLE
Creepshow (don't really consider this one much of a horror film though)
    The Blair Witch Project
    Poltergeist
    An American Werewolf in London
    The Exorcist
    Batman & Robin

I'm not in front of my collection, but I think that's about it. Not much of a horror fan, really. I know....it's horrible saying that on a site dedicated to Romero...

Theres alot of hammer in there. I like hammer movies. also some of those are parts of boxsets but i think ive covered them all and i wasnt sure whether to include the planet of the apes movies or not, would anyone else say their horror? also the list is excluding my videos because like you guys, i no longer own a VHS player. I Have all my DVD's on a shelf in alphabetical order, am actually quite anal about this.

Funny you mention that because I considered it as well. I would say some of them are horror. I definitely consider the original and Conquest to be horror.

BTW, how could you guys get rid of you VCR's? I made sure to hang onto one for this very reason...

Andy, you don't alphabetize the word 'The' hehe. Also, I suppose to should add the rest of the Alien movies to my list, although after the first one I consider them not really horror but more just action/sci-fi.

Also, those of you who are too lazy to do this, here's a little incentive: You can make one of these lists and save it to your phone, that way when you're out buying DVD's and you can't remember whether or not you already have a specific movie (which happens to me all the time), you can just pull up this list and confirm!

If that's the case, you have to throw Shaun of the Dead (which is on his list) in the same category.

Wow, post our horror movie collection? I don't know if I can type all that out without my fingers locking up. I'll have to consult the DVD/BR/HD-DVD shelves when I get home and see what kind of list I can compile. It's certianly too much to recall without looking at it.

I own exactly 0 DVDs, nor will i probably ever own one again. everything i have has been converted to a purely electronic format and stored on drives. the space one has after getting rid of a couple of hundred DVDs nearly boggles the mind.

the actual list of what i have would run into 5 posts. literally hundreds of things, mostly older classic horror (which i love) and almost nothing made after 1990 or so.
my list would be pretty much everything Universal, Hammer, AIP , Amicus, etc. ever made.

Like records, I enjoy owning the physical copy of the DVD. I enjoy standing at my shelf and browsing through the collection, much like comparing browsing video titles at a physical video store to searching through Netflix's website. Not only that, but with having all of your movies on hard drives... one wrong thing and you lose hundreds of movies. Kind of a scary thought.

Anyway, the Mrs. and I just ordered these:
    -Superstition
    -Black Roses
    -Night Of The Demons
    -C.H.U.D.
    -The Blob (1988)
    -Re-Animator
    -Dead End Drive-In
    -The Changeling
-Demons 2 - The Nightmare Returns
    -Bloody Birthday
    -One Dark Night
-Tales From The Darkside: The Movie
    -The Woodchipper Massacre

Just got some more at this place called MovieStop, yesterday. I highly recommend checking it out to anyone who has one near them. Tons of movies that I've never seen in or stores, nor would ever imagine seeing without having to special order (sadly I already owned most of them). CHEAP, too. Also sweet "buy 3, get 1 free" deal.

    -Return Of The Living Dead
-Return Of The Living Dead II (finally got around to upgrading these from VHS)
    -Grindhouse
    -Misery
    -Predator
    -Altered States
    -Cloverfield
    -The Signal
    -Creepshow 2
    -The Hills Have Eyes (1977)
    -Castle Freak
    -Halloween 4
    -Near Dark
    -Return To Horror High

After your recommendation, it having been 15-20 years since seeing the sequels, and their availablity on Instant Netflix, I gave them a watch last night. You're right....they aren't so bad. Obviously they're not classics like the original, but in their own way they're still entertaining.

Poltergeist 2 felt like it was treading the same grounds as the original, but the inclusion of Father Kane and "Chief" from Cuckoo's Nest was pretty cool. The actor playing Kane is one creepy ass dude. The ending to this film was the worst part. The entire "other side" sequence was poorly done and should have been avoided. The back story of Kane's cult was nice.

Poltergeist 3 was oddly my favorite of the two sequels. I love that it tried something different from the first two. The building setting and the mirror motif was refreshing. Also, it was populated with a nice cast. Unfortunately the original Father Kane didn't return, though. The new guy didnt cut it. Although it leaves a bit to be desired, I had a lot of fun with this one. The abrupt ending was a negative mark, but that was obviously the result of the death of the actress that played Carol Anne.

So yeah, I take back my original "crap" label for the sequels. There are plenty worse out there. They actually did a decent job with these considering the high standards left by the original. Good call, mike.

Awesome, glad you were into them! Kane is indeed very creepy.

The strange thing about that guy looking exactly like Kane is that song isn't about him; it's about the walking man from The Stand.
