Toto, we ain't in Kansas no more ...

Let's see if I have this correct ... US troops invade Afghanistan in 2001 ... by 2003 opium production in Afghanistan doubles ... huh? It makes no sense. If W was serious about the War on Terror, why would he allow the drug trade (which funds the terrorists) to thrive?

Will Barry crack down on the drug trade with his planned 20,000 US troop surge into the region?

    Interesting.

If the gov. is making any money from opium sales, I doubt it. The War on Drugs is about as big a farce as The War on Terror.

Trying to control the opium production while fighting a war is like pissing up a tree.

The only reason it was not as great (but still ridiculously widespread) before the invasion was because the Taliban had a firm, tyrannical grip on just about the entire country. There aren't enough troops to exercise that same type of control; you literally have to have people watching every square mile of the country, and that would take millions of troops. Which the U.S. doesn't have, in total, worldwide.

Of course, we could have simply burned the entire country to the ground, killing every single living thing in it. But, that would make the U.S. the "bad guy" (like we aren't hated anyway).

Agent Orange. (of course, our Marxist media would have had a field day with that)

Agent Orange would work, but it works too well with nasty side effects.

I do like most of their songs, though.
