Anybody willing to pay £180 for a videogame and some plastic 'instruments' deserves to be rammed up the arse by the barge pole of common sense.

I don't 'get' these games...either play a real guitar or go full on air-guitar. I'm about choosing one way or the other, baby ... aaaawww yeah.

I'd choose a real one if I was musically gifted ... but I'm not ... so I'll stick with air guitar ... and vaginas.

The price of the Nissan GTR sums it up.... Japan... £30,000... UK... £60,000...

We are generally just ripped off...

People use the "VAT" excuse, but even still - we get royally boned daily.

I think before anybody complains about paying for stuff, they should check with us Brits first ... we totally have dibs on complaining about paying too much for things.

These games are aimed more at people who want to have a laugh pissed up with their mates rather than any sort of serious musical experience.

Rock Band would have been ideal for after pub activities but there is NO FRICKING WAY i am paying over double what the US pays for it, even if i can afford it.

The classic was the Rover MG V8, manufactured in this country a while ago. It was something like 50% more expensive in THIS country (where it was built) than in Japan (where of course it had to be shipped half way across the planet to)...

i actually do think about this a bit. after hearing the horror stories on here over the years, i am quite happy to pay my $3.07 a gallon for gas, 6% ohio sales tax (no sales tax on the fed level here), and my 2-3% (or so) ohio income tax. paying fed tax doesn't bother me at all. esp. since we get almost all that money back.

now as for that game - that is crap. 180 pounds for a game? i don't care what it comes with, that is a load.

this pic about sums it up.

Ok. I've had the solus version (game only) for the last few days and this totally TOTALLY kicks Guitars Heroes arse. Seriously. It is the best "music" game i've ever played. So much, so i went out and bought the drums to go with it. My god how much fun is it playing plastic drums. The set list helps as well. I got soooooooo bored of playing GH3 cause not only did i not like the tracks, i didn't know most of them. Someone with serious musical taste has picked out the tracks on Rock Band.
    Brilliant game

You're probably better off waiting for Guitar Hero 4. Better drums than Rock Band, by the looks of things:

Too right, you could buy a half decent guitar for that. Get a REAL instrument and join the REAL world is what I say.

    Sigh.
Your kind of missing the point and at the same time assuming everyone can play instruments or has the time to learn one. Then factor in trying to find other competent musicians with similar tastes. Or, you could swallow your musical snobbery and appreciate the "game" for what it is. A GAME. FYI i actually own both electric and acoustic guitars - cant play too well but thats another story.
As for the REAL world comment, its outdated and irrelevant these days as it wont be long before games take over as the dominant entertainment of choice.

    PEACE

BTW The Clash feature quite heavily in these "games"

This is just insane. The European market is constantly getting "shafted".

As we all know the only way corporations/industies will listen to the consumer is if we hit them were it hurts, right square in their bottom lines. If sales decrease then they'll have no other choice than to lower prices. The downside is that for that to happen one has to deprive themselves of something they derive great pleasure from for an indefinite amount of time and it just seems as if there aren't enough people out there willing to make that sacrifice.

To top it all off. Quite a few people have been receiving used/returned/repaired sets of drums that were the original design that didn't stand up too well to prolonged use. My own set of drums are the 1st run model where its been PROVEN that they break after 6/7 months. They have been redesigned so why not give me the new and improved set

There's just no profit in making a durable product anymore. Why, not make it glitchy so people are forced to buy 2-3 sets of the same tem? Unfortunately, in this technological era, we've become disturbingly accustomed to glitchy products that break down. It's the norm nowdays.

And if they don't get you that way then they come up with the upgraded version 6 months after you rush to the store to buy yours.
