    Retro Games

I have all these Consoles and love playing them all and am still a big collecter of these games. But i cant decide which one was/is the best for Nostalgic reasons or just pure fun.

Im cyurrently playing many games on the Master system but i keep getting the N64 out.

    What do you prefer?

What? No NES or Atari? Those are the ones I would vote for. And technically they're more retro than most of those...

I chose PS with SNES and Genesis close behind. N64 was a disappointing system, in my opinion.

I kinda agree, the Atari 2600 takes a giant dump on all of the above consoles and should have been included in the poll as well as Colecovision and NES. I went for the Sega Megadrive myself even though the N64 and P$one are much better in terms of graphics and gameplay. Games like Aladdin, Ecco The Dolphin, Revenge Of Shinobi, OutRun and Road Rash I adored as a kid and quite often, I find myself pulling the old Megadrive out of the cupboard and giving it another whirl. The Sega DreamCast I still play all the time (I own 2 and keep a packaged one as backup). Now if you had picked that one, I would have chose it to win hands down but I forgive it's non-inclusion as the DC is not quite a retro console yet. Good poll Scotty.

I voted PSX because I completely fell in love with that system. I had never before, nor since, felt the same way about a console. I remember when my Mom first bought me it (1997) along with Twisted Metal (the sole reason I wanted PSX) and how I spent countless hours playing that game.

Once I discovered the Resident Evil series, it was on a whole nother level.

I do regret not putting the NES and Atari in the poll as to be fair they are far more retro than most on there, but for me those things didnt exists when i was a toddler. it was all about the master system and the ' Dracula' game!

Im still trying to find a cheap copy of ' Zombies' on the megadrive the only ones i find are £15 or there abouts which ok isnt too pricey but still i can pick them up for £1.99 BOGOFF at gamestation

What convinced me to buy a PS was Final Fantasy 7 and Castlevania: SOTN. I was fortunate enough to be working pt at Sears when it was released. The system was running about $200, I think. I used my employee discount and another percentage was knocked off, because it was employee week. I ended up getting it for less than $140 after taxes.

my dreamcast almost made me drill a hole in my head to relieve the pressure of fustration it just recently caused me....

Ive had the thing forever...and I have a TON of games...for some reason the Dreamcast was a huge success in my area and practically everyone had it so I got a lot of free passmedown games....and I dont think I ever stopped playing it....when suddenly my dad moved the system while a game was in it running....He wasnt rough with it ...all he did was pick it up and moved to over onto a stand while we watched a movie so me and my brothers could pick up where we left off after the movie...

Then when the movie was over we checked on our game but it had reverted back to the startup menu...
It wouldnt start....so I tried another game ...and another...

Thats when I noticed the probelm...something happened to the disk motor...!!...It wont spin the disk anymore so it would read any disks.....

I really dont want to buy another dreamcast...but I almost feel like I have too....but I was trying to save all my money for Wii related purposes...anyone have any idea for a home fix? For an apparent unworking motor?....If I took it apart would there be something I should look for to fiddle with to try and fix it...

exact same thing happened to 3 of my mates' dreamcasts!

i voted megadrive/genesis, streets of rage/golden axe/shinobi 2 (remember that 3/6 in one cartridge?) sonic & knuckles, mortal kombat 2 (which was bloodier than the snes one), alien 3, loads of others i cant remember...fond memories of haggling in games exchanges and blowing into the cartridges...heheh

although the snes had a few games going for it, like zombies ate my neighbours, beavis & butthead and the old zeldas.

lol interesting to see snes & megadrive are in joint first position...ten years later not much has changed!

n64 was ok but let's be brutally honest, 007 and zelda were all it had going for it. plus it was like £349.99 when it came out, and memory cards werent available for months.

    .
I think you're thinking of the original Mortal Kombat, which was censored for SNES. Nintendo learned their lesson though, and released MKII with no censored content, along with better graphics and control than the Genesis version.

Beware the beast, man, for he is the Devil's pawn. Alone among God's primates, he kills for sport or lust or greed. Yea, he will murder his brother to possess his brother's land. Let him not breed in great numbers, for he will make a desert of his home and yours. Shun him, drive him back into his jungle lair, for he is the harbinger of death.

I wouldn't sweat it too much. I bought a second hand DreamCast (boxed in excellent condition) a year ago from my local Gamestation for £35 UK and that was with 2 controllers, 2 VMU's and a keyboard. A 'regular' 2nd hand DreamCast alone is only worth around £15-20 so it's very inexpensive to replace.

The only console I've ever owned (and still have tucked away) is the Sega Mega Drive II, a lovely piece of kit indeed. Ahhh ... the fun times I had playing on one of those, Xmas 1993 is when I got it, lol, I remember the headache I suffered after about 90 minutes of play - really broke me into the swing of things, now I can sit all day playing a game until I feel a bit woozy/sick - like one Friday when I didn't have classes at Uni, so while my housemates were out learning I played Need For Speed Underground 2 all day almost non-stop until I started feeling twitchy.

I've been starting to think about possibly pulling out my Mega Drive 2 again for a quick razzle dazzle, bash out a game of Robocop VS Terminator perhaps (violence and gore ... before the ratings system was introduced!). Virtua Racing was epic fun in multiplayer as I remember ... ah ... those were indeed the days.
