    i finally got one

well i finally got an xbox about two months early two days ago for 400 with five games, kameo, call of duty 2, burnout revenge, condemned and.....king kong which is still in its wrapper .
overall the consoles greaat but the games were a bit overhyped like the 'awesome ai' in comdemned which isnt that awesome really they just A: make a b line for you or B: hide around the next corner and wait which means you use the taser on em so while scary its not challenging.
call of duty is....well exactly the same as its predecessor only with better graphics so its good fps style fun.
king kong...well i didnt like the film so i cant be arsed to play it.
burnouts good, i havent played another burnout game so i was a little confused as to how you gain points by crashing in a race but its cool.
i didnt think id like kameo at all but its got me up to 610 on my gamerscore allready and its not bad.

-THAT SAID -yesterday its suddenly started going "theres a problem with your disc it may be dirty or damaged" so i think i gotta go back to game to exchange it for one that isnt faulty, could be worse i could have got an overheating console.
-THAT SAID...EER AGAIN-the first day, and this is a warning for anyone whos getting one my 360 did heat up a lot and i mean really really hot, but i let it cool for half an hour every few hours and now it can stay on for longer without getting as hot, oh and id get rid of the snowboarding video warner bros. puts on it when you get it it takes up 1.5gb and even an xbox game save is at most a few hundred kb so its really a waste of memory when you can put two cds on instead.
plus by pressing the button in the centre of the controller (and wireless kick ass by the way) you bring up a menu that you can select xbox live , your gamer card, the dash board or select music tracks youve ripped from cds and play them over your game, theres nothing like killing junkies in condemned along to "the devil is a loser" by lordi, its like playing that old games chanel that used to be on sky with all the games music videos, only thats all porn now, a sad day for gameing tv, bring back when games attack bravo!.

anyhoo as for backwards compatability and i know some of you will be dying to know this, .....without xbox live there really isnt one, out of all my games and ive got around 40 only one game played, can you guess which one?, yep thats right halo 2, not even half life 2 played on it , which surprised me, you just get a message saying "you must connect to xbox live yadda yadda yadda" and the best bt connection we can get around here is 1 meg so we cant get xbox live here....

so overall its a good console ,which im glad dint overheat, but its got nothing spectacular gams wise, but thats said these are mostly games that were rushed for an early next gen launch to beat the ps3 but when games like dead rising and halo 3 have put much longer in production i dont think anyones seen the best this console can do yet, not by far.

Congrats on the purchase. If I were to make some suggestions game-wise, I'd return King Kong, and get Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter, Oblivion, Dead or Alive 4, or Project Gotham Racing 3. All of those are excelent.

A 1 mb connection should be fine for Xbox Live, you sure it isnt availabile?

definatly, at only a tenner a week/month its still better than aol's 18 rip off im on right now.
and yeah i wanted ghost recon but king kong was compulsory, ill trade it in when i exchange my faulty version of kameo.

i dont wanna get oblivion yet us i still havent finished morrowind ive got keening and sunder and im only lvl 21 .

and one thing i noticed is that oblivion raises your gamerscore by a hell of a lot for all the little things like rising a rank in a guild, its wierd that theres so many easy achivements in that but im in the final level of call of duty 2 and ive only got on achievement

Great to hear you finally got your 360 !! I'm sure you'll get up to speed with the great games that are out for it. If you like sports games I would pick up Top Spin 2 & Fight Night: Round 3. Both were great IMHO. I'm also getting a kick out of Rockstar Table Tennis .

Once you get Live you can add my GamerTag if you like. I can probably get a good group of people together to play Call Of Duty 2 which can be a blast on Live . Much better after the patch they supplied .

If you are worried in any way about the "heating" issues you can get one of these:

    Nyko Xbox 360 Intercooler

I didn't have a real bad problem with heating with my 360 but got one "just in case". It's easy to install & it REALLY cools down the 360.

To change your theme all you need to do is hit the center X button on the controller which will bring up a window. On this window you will see "Personal Settings". You can change your themes from there .

What's cool about that is that if you use media connect to hook up directly to your PC you can choose any picture from you PC to make your theme. The only problem with that is that it shows the same picture on all of your blades. But if it's a cool picture what does it matter .

Right now I am using the Halo 3 theme I purchased from the Xbox Live Marketplace. I also use these pics that I transferred from my PC:

    Superman (Alex Ross):

    Angelina Jolie:

    Jessica Alba:

    Monica Bellucci:

    Scarlett Johansson:

Yes, I've played Halo 2 on Live with my 360. The games I played I didn't run into any problems with lag or the "moon jump" .

dont feel bad about the disc error , one of my buds went threw 3 systems before he got one that worked, of course these were the first batched shipped.call of duty 2 is ur best choice, also if u do trade off go for perfect dark zero if u played the first one.patching the xbox for backward compatibale gaming is worth using someones elses connection.if your in a big city just borrow a wii usb adaptor.

without xbox live the xbox as a stand alone system is weak. after about your hundreth hour, ull be getitng it the more of the same type gameplay. that why i sold mine, better gfx and better gfx... and that about it. 1mb on xbox live will do you to , if not mistaken 256- is the min for broadband can be used.
