Short video of a project I was involved in last year...

Last year I helped shoot a video to document the "Sturgeon Moon" performance in Bridgnorth.

Here's a BLOG on that event:

The other day I got my original tapes back from the dude I was working for, and I set about picking out some shots for a new version of my showreel, but I had so many that I figured why not put them together in a little video, so that's what I did.

    Enjoy.

Ah, now that's nice. Good job, it has a colourful vibrant look and I'm sure it was a lot of fun to attend.

For some reason, the shot with all the folks walking across the field gave me a 'huntsmen tracking down zombies' kinda feel.

hehe, I was thinking along the same lines.

It was a chaotic night, similar to this year's event in Bridgnorth called "Sabrina & the Engineer" (which I blogged about in September/October), lots of 'run & gun' shooting going on.

It's also interesting to look at the footage I got a year back, and to look at the footage I got this year. I'm not saying my stuff from last year was crap, not at all if I dare say so myself, but what I mean is - I'm more efficient this year than last, can pick my shots better than I could last year (when I could pick them better than those in 2006, and so on), and it's also interesting to learn from your own footage - sometimes you think "why did you shoot that, ya fool?" lol, so it's all an excellent way to learn - by watching and by doing, and by watching your own doings.

    That was pwiddy!
Look again at that dot. That's here. That's home. That's us. On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every mother and father, hopeful child, inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every "superstar," every "supreme leader," every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there--on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam. Hehe, the opening shot of people outlined, slowly walking made me think of zombies, till (presumably) a family holding hands came into focus.

Nice color, awesome choice of music. In fact, the choice of music made me feel like I was watching celebratory footage from the most recent Olympic games.

    Great job, MZ.

Ta very much, I just chose a track from one of my favourite CDs - "Digital Shades Vol. 1" by M83. They make great music, and as it's nothing official or what-not, I figured "fair use" and maybe it'll turn one or two more people onto the band.

Glad you like it lads, I rather enjoyed getting to see this footage again a year after shooting it for the original, intended purpose, and it was great fun to colour. So all-in-all, just a bit of fun really.

And that my friend, is the beauty of combining Magic Bullet drenched footage and the brilliant sound of M83.
