Well if it stays somewhat true to the comics, we know the answer (those of us who follow it) in the series. Of course the show diverges in a number of ways so there is still a sense of not knowing. The aftermath of what happened with him in the comics was very interesting to me, the way Rick reacted and managed the "relationship" and so on. I clearly can not say more without ruining the comic for people.
