What horror franchise do you think should not have had any sequels?

I might have to go with probably Texas Chainsaw Massacre. For all the others, whatever others may think, they a decent mythology and a cult of fandom around them.

Texas Chainsaw Massacre never was a series, or had a unity of continuity. The films were always seperate. Though, I admit Pt. 2 was entertaining as, hell.

Jaws is defiantly, another one. The original is a pure classic, and the sequels pretty much, scaled things down.

Hmm... off the top of my head I can think of two...

    The Exorcist.
    The Blair Witch Project.

    Land of the Dead?

I kid, but I actually did have too think a few seconds that you were talking about that horrible Day of the Dead 2: Contaguim or whatever, the hell it's called.

So like, is it even worth a watch for some giggles?

So, I'm assume they all must suck major balls since, I've never heard of them before? That, or I gotta start paying more attention.

Yeah, I'd agree on Texas Chainsaw except I'd delete them after the second one, which is the best.
I'm going with Hellraiser after the second one. The third was still decent, but after that they just screwed the pooch with the whole thing.
I heard whoever is remaking Clive Barker's dream has his utmost devotion to keeping it real, and making more if they rock. All I can do is hope...
On the other hand, another movie of Clive's that didn't get the proper sequels was Nightbreed. Too bad.

the halloween films come to mind...however, i really like halloween 2 because it picks up on the same night exactly where the first left off (and NOtLD appearing on the televisions during the opening scenes).

as i've said before, if i had my say with the halloween remake that RZ did, i would have made it a 3 hour epic remake of the whole story of October 31st in haddonfield.

after halloween 2, though, the series went to total shit in a heartbeat, at times cheesier than most nightmare on elm street movies.

Man screw you guys!! The Exorcist 3 is one of my favorite movies of all time. Part 2 was an atrocity, but part 3 was wonderful. Very closely based on the book. . .and just beautifully played out by George C. Scott and Brad Douriff. Fuckin' fantasic movie!!

A Nightmare On Elm Street. They should have just left it after the first one, instead of turning what I thought was a scary character into a parody of itself. Also, Saw. The first one was great (apart from some dodgy acting from Carey Elwes), it was something different, and I thought it was very well done. After that, bleh.

What did you think of Halloween 4, Chaos? For a script written in 11 days, the film sure came out better than anything after it, and actually tie it with Halloween 2 for best sequel.

Despite, the fact I agree with you Hellsing....I have Nightmarathons every October where I watch the first four movies in a row. I'd hate to think of life on this planet without Parts 2, 3 and 4. Yeah, I admit I like the sequels! Especially, Pt. 3 and New Nightmare.

Poltergeist. The first one is a classic in my book, but the sequels can piss off.

The Omen. None of them come close to the quality of the first. And no Gregory Peck. Booooo.
