NASA can't pay for killer asteroid hunt...

    http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/17473059/

The cost to find at least 90 percent of the 20,000 potentially hazardous asteroids and comets by 2020 would be about $1 billion, according to a report NASA will release later this week. The report was previewed Monday at a Planetary Defense Conference in Washington.
...and meanwhile Iraq is costing how much?

Nice to get your priorities sorted... All those vorton plasma laser canons Sadam had in development were of course far more deadly that 2 miles of rock travelling at 20,000mph!
Look again at that dot. That's here. That's home. That's us. On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every mother and father, hopeful child, inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every "superstar," every "supreme leader," every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there--on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam. Neil, you're forgetting... "DON'T MENTION THE WAR!"

It would be an amazing fireworks display to watch in all fairness, for the few seconds where being vapourised wouldn't be an issue.

    100th post, woo!

Oh well....a meteor seems like a good way to go. Could be worse...
