    Underwater zombies!?

I was just looking at the listed credits for this movie on IMDB and amongst the names listed is one Robert C. Shannon, who is credited as the film's "dive supervisor" and also as the "water safety" guy. Now unless there is going to be some significant underwater shooting going on, I can't think of any other reason why there would be a "dive supervisor", which, combined with the island setting, leads me to the wildly speculative conclusion that we are actually going to see some submarine zombie action.

    Thoughts?

When I was young we didn't have flying zombies or submariner zombies, neither

i like the way that underwater zombies were used and explained in the world war z book, but when big daddy and his formation of ghouls popped across the river unaffected by the current, it really seemed pretty lame.

as long as they make it believable (or as believable as possible with the dead returning to life), i think it'd be a cool concept.

pretty fancy detective work on your part, kraken.

I think underwater zombies are fine if the context is right. While the zombie-vs-shark scene in Zombie Flesh Eaters was weirdly cool in the twisted and stylized logic of that movie, it certainly would not fit in well in a more gritty and "realistic" setting like those Romero creates for his zombie movies. That said, the water-walking zombies in Land didn't push credibility too far; it was impressively shot and well pulled-off. I have a hunch he's going to go for something similar here, but this time go that step further and actually show them lurching/crawling/scrambling across the sea bed (note: the script for Land originally had a scene just like this but it was cut from the final movie either due to budget limitations or the fact that Pirates of the Carribean did something similar that year). As far as I'm concerned that would be cool. Or even cooler if someone happened to be swimming in the sea and encounter something hungry floating just below the surface...

Actually, he should have done that in Diary. He should have had Ridley push Debra into the swimming pool and the zombies should have eaten her legs off. That would have been awesome. That movie needed some more zombie action like that.

Ridley was too whacked out at that point to do anything murderous. Loved z vs s in zfe. reminded me of jackie chan's first strike (his best, imo). too many half-assed abbreviations? sue my lawyer!

I was thinking more along the lines of:

    Debra: Ridley, your arm...!
Ridley: Oh... that... what do you know? Something must have bit me! *maniacal laughter*
    Debra: Let me see.
    Ridley: (pulls away) It's nothing!
Debra tries to grab his arm. Ridley struggles with her.
    Ridley: Leave me alone.
He tries to push her away. She slips and falls in the pool. Hilarity ensues.

Yeah, the zombie vs. shark scenes is one of the coolest zombie scenes ever, if you ask me. I like seeing zombies doing stuff we aren't used to them doing... And it's not everyday you get to see zombies facing off against a shark. Also, the Land of the Dead scene was equally great. That shot of those zombies crossing the river, with Big Daddys head popping up first, is just beautiful.
