    Re-opened until the next fire...

So much of that town square is just a replica now - it really is a ghost
    of it's former self.

When it was original that was one of the coolest back lots
in Hollywood. Part of my college internship was spent at Universal
and I use to spend my lunch time in the Town Square set -
here are some pics I took when it still looked like Hill Valley
    from Back To The Future.

    The courthouse

The street leading to the theater where the Delorean went back to the future.

The cafe entrance from Back To The Future.

Some of the buildings along the theater street.

    And a wide angle view

So if BTTF 1 and 2 were filmed on this backlot....where was the Hill Valley of the old west shot at? Is it still around?

I recently watched the BTTF trilogy and 3 isn't as bad as some people let on. It's not as cool as the first two, but it's still a damn fine film, imo. Great bookend to a solid trilogy too.

The Old west Hill Valley was shot in Sonora Ca - Red Hills Ranch.
The buildings for the town were left standing after filming except for the Clock Tower replica which was removed.

I heard a lightning strike caught the old west movie set on fire years later and it burned to the ground. I believe the train tracks still may be there. That old Universal Fire curse

Happens about every 10 years for the insurance money, just like clockwork.

Beware the beast, man, for he is the Devil's pawn. Alone among God's primates, he kills for sport or lust or greed. Yea, he will murder his brother to possess his brother's land. Let him not breed in great numbers, for he will make a desert of his home and yours. Shun him, drive him back into his jungle lair, for he is the harbinger of death.
