    Some interesting optical illusions...

Look again at that dot. That's here. That's home. That's us. On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every mother and father, hopeful child, inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every "superstar," every "supreme leader," every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there--on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam. Ooooh, I love optical illusions, thanks for posting that Neil. I'm always curious how our senses can be fooled one way or another, and how interesting it is we seem to trust our eyes over every other sense.

I once listened to a podcast with Ray Maxwell (a color scientists, among many other things) and this guy just blew my mind explaining how your eyes see color and how it's influenced by soooo many factors - distance, where it is in your focal field, colors that are adjacent or near the color you're looking at - all of those things (and more) affect the way you see a particular color - and no one seemes to see colors "exactly" the same as the next person - there's always slight variances.

Here, blow your mind with this episode of "Maxwell's House"

The real mind-bending stuff starts at around 17 minutes.

That rubber hand trick was pretty cool. I don't buy the green table being the same size as the red table, though.

I think it was Bassman that posted this one a while back, but it's so cool that it's worth repeating:

    Which way is she spinning?

It's either way. You can make her spin either directio based on how you look at it. Took me some practice, but once you get it, it's really fun!
