Two tourists in the projects at three a.m.? My guess is they met a guy at a bar that was going to hook them up with some pot or coke. Possibly something worse. The guy drove them there and the deal either went south or as the article suggests, the locals planned to take them down for the money and valuables. The lesson? Stay away from the ghetto parts of town at night....

I thought there were universal "wrong side of the tracks" signs that are recognized across the globe. Bars over doors and windows, shoes hanging from power lines, cars up on blocks with the wheels missing, 30 people gathered on a 6 x 6 stoop regardless of the time of day, etc.

Why would anyone want to go to Florida? You'd have to learn Spanish in order to get around anywhere, no thanks. I'd prefer to remain in states where English is still the primary language. I generally hate traveling anyway. Everything I need is within 20 miles of me. This type of thing is one of the reasons I explicitly hate traveling -- I'm always convinced I'll end up in the wrong place at the wrong time. j.p.
