    Dawn(78) 3D Theatrical Release?

    http://moviepilot.com/stories/105886...channel-horror

At Comic Con, Rubenstein said they're still working on converting Dawn to 3D for a theatrical release. With "the same attention given to Titanic 3D".

We've heard Romero say he's seen a few scenes and liked it, but that was years ago. I'm thinking it'll never see the light of day. If it does, I bet it will be a very limited release. What say you?

I like 3D. I understand it's a gimmick but I do like it. I would really look forward to a 3D version of Dawn. The problem is, the HD masters they struck in 2006 are pretty crappy. So unless they started afresh, they will have spent an awful lot of money on the post 3D conversion of an out dated digital transfer.

3D conversion means that each and every frame has to be rotoscoped then assigned a specific distance. It's time consuming and hugely expensive. Some people hate 3D with a vengeance and I imagine that there would be DOTD fans who would hate the thought too. I don't see where Rubinstein would make his money back on a 3D conversion UNLESS he uses a cheap conversion method just like my LG TV does when you press the 3D button. If that is the case then the results will be disappointing.
