Being the board resident Jew I thought I'd make a topic wishing anyone and everyone a happy Chanukah. Light some candles, eat some potato pancakes, and rejoice in the victory and re-dedication of the temple.
Or even get your metal on with some Gods of Fire.

Drove by a menorah on the highway this morning before I realized it was already upon us. It seems unusually early this year, or is that my imagination???
Anyway, Happy Hanukkah!!!

It's actually one of the minor holidays in Judaism and pales in comparison to the juggernauts of Rosh Hashon and Yom Kippur. It just happens to fall around the same time as Christmas and gets blown up to a more major holiday.
It's more about trying to assert a little bit of Jewish identity to a overwhelming array of Christmas things. Damn Seleucid Greeks.

Hey, don't blame the Seleucids for christianity. They were just doing their job.

Haha, nah I wasn't. I was just saying that they were the reason why Chanukah happened. They treated the high priest in Jerusalem like a political office instead of a religious position. Which led to the Maccabees and some Guerrilla warfare. Though the Holiday is more about the re dedication of the temple from Mercury to God then about the war itself. Regardless though.
Potato Pancakes.
