The coolest part about the article was this picture...

Seriously, a good read, but I didn't care for her insinuating that film-makers need make more films reflecting their political beliefs, or more to the point, her political beliefs. Her arrogance extends so far to even suggest that an author wasn't being genuine regarding the inspiration/meaning of his story.

Another thing that confuses me is the need for film makers to explain the meaning behind their work. I respect Joe Daunte, but FFS, let us watch the film and decide for ourselves. This is typical of the liberal mindset. They assume that people are too stupid to make their own decisions, and need to be coddled along like pre-schoolers. Again, arrogance.

I agree completely. I think the better movies let you think for yourself instead of telling you what to think.

i think you might have the "too stupid to make their own decisions" mindset reversed...and i don't disagree at all with the author - especially in an atmosphere like we currently have in the world, films that comment and satire politics and society should be welcomed. too many people shy away from making something with a straightfoward message like homecoming - which, by the way, sounds funny as hell...

    Hey guys...

It is Mother Jones, y'know? You have to kind-of go in expecting a certain slant
