    Edward Woodward dies

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/8362367.stm

Comes across as one of those few 'professional gentlemen' in the acting business... Bit like Roy Scheider for example.

As well as some good performances. He was also behind one of my favourite childhood jokes...

    - Why has Edward Woodward got so many Ds in his name?

    - Because he'd sound silly if he was called Ewar Woowar!
Look again at that dot. That's here. That's home. That's us. On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every mother and father, hopeful child, inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every "superstar," every "supreme leader," every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there--on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam. Now he can roll over in his grave after the fact over Nicolas Cage's movie The Wickerman

Shame it wasn't Nicholas Cage, although I hear he's amazing in Werner Herzog's Bad Lieutenant remake/rehash.

    Poor Edward. Will be missed.
