    Anybody else let down....

...... by Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky bobby?

Is it just me or was the commercial alot funnier than the entire movie?
It's watchable, but, hardly the laugh riot I was expecting.

    any thoughts?

    peace

You seem the type that is let down by just about everything.

(Just playing with you ) I do want to see it, but I chose to see The Descent last weekend. The Descent was decent. (pun intended).

I heard that if you expected Anchorman when seeing Ricky Bobby that you would be disappointed.

Nah, not let down by "everything" just most of what comes out of Hollywood

and, you're right about the Anchorman comment.

I haven't seen it yet, but I've read alot of reviews that say the same thing.

Actually, every review I've read has said that it's not horrible....it's still worth a watch....but just not that funny.

It can't be any less of a funny flick than Ferrell's "Elf".

Elf is hilarious compared to Ricky Bobby. (IMHO)

but, it is worth at least one watch.

PFFTT. sorry i have very little expectaion for a comedy based on NASCAR. it's like expecting anything with Larry the cable guy in it to be "watchable".

on the other hand, i saw Miami Vice last night, and it was excellent.

commercials ruin all comedies now, anyway. They show every one of the funniest jokes so when you get to the theatre there is nothing to laugh at. I guess they lack the material to make a good ad and leave some jokes as a surprise. (of course this isn't always true, just with sucky comedies)

I Corinthians 1:18-31 18For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God. 19For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent. 20Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? 21For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe. 22For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom: 23But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness; 24But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God. 25Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men. 26For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called: 27But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; 28And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are: 29That no flesh should glory in his presence. 30But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption: 31That, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.

Umm....dude. The creators of the film may say different so that they don't get in trouble and there may be a few minor things in there to not make NASCAR look bad.....but you do realize that overall it's taking stabs at NASCAR and the people who participate, right?

I mean RICKY BOBBY. That's not implying redneck or anything. Plus several other things that are implied in the trailer.

I'm sure there are several other jokes that are actually against NASCAR. As well as a few things to make it not look bad. But to say you won't see it because it's got some racing in it is kind of sad. I mean.....I'm prety sure that Adreno isn't a NASCAR fan. I bet more than half the people that see it aren't....

Besides, Adam McKay/Ferrell/Judd Apatow is a winning combination. Anyone can see that.

You can't expect good from a film when the star actor's last name is Ferrell.

I think it's dumb that they're rehasing the same type of title they used before.

What the movie is about followed by who the movie is about.

    EXAMPLE:

Anchorman - The Legend Of Ron Burgundy

Talladega Nights - The Ballad of Ricky Bobby

Get a new title scheme, damn it!

No no no. That's not what I mean. If they were like these two movies, they'd be:

Night Of The Living Dead - A Tale Of Ben

Dawn Of The Dead - The Adventure Of Peter & Roger

    etc
