    question for anyone with kids

I was just wondering why its so hard for parents to either admit or to see what their children are really like? I mean their child could be videotaped murdering someone and they'd be there screaming free the innocents. But just in general i'm amazed at how parents seem incapable of believing their child would do something bad?
You smell that? That's the smell of spring, and I love it. You know what I love to do in spring? I love to come out into the woods, to walk amongst the budding trees, to smell and taste the hint of renewal that hovers in the air like a heady perfume, and to listen to the song of the birds who have returned from their long sojourn south. And bury the people I killed during the winter...

your kids are the single greatest joy in your life and no parent wants to admit there children are anything less than perfect ( no matter what evidence is put in front of them )it wouldn't matter what my kids did i would still give my life to defend them...

Some of it has to do with unconditional love. I know it still doesn't excuse the rationalization that " Oh my son is a serial rapist but he's really a good boy" or something along those lines. Another thing i think is the denial that they could have created something so evil. Many of them blame themselves. If their child really were a monster they think it would mean that they were bad parents or something. I don't know, just throwing a couple of theories out there. ( They're just theories guys...no....please...don't flame me !!!) As for me I have a son and i call a spade a spade. I'm very strict, a total drill SGT. I don't let anything slide. However, me being a parent myself I certainly don't agree when people do that , but i understand.

But would you be in total denial about what they did. It's one thing to say" o.k. my son is a murderous bastard, but he's my son and i'd die for him", it's totally different when Timmothy McVey's mom thinks he's a choir boy. I think that's the point she was getting to. As for me i'd give my life for my children as well, what kind of parent wouldn't? I don't expect people without children to understand that though.

i get it i just dont understand

I get that people wouldn't want to admit that they raised someone who would kill or hurt someone. It would be like a personal failure. I just can't fathom how people in the face of evidence wouldn't believe their child guilty of something bad. I can even understand people willing to give life to save their kids. I'd give mine to save someone elses child and I dont even like kids.

Sometimes people just have their minds made up no matter what evidence there is to the contrary. Just ask the O.J. jury.

I've always said that most parents that their kid labels "cool" is not really doing their job. You're not suppossed to be your kids freind (shouldn't be your first priority anyway) you're there to raise them and make sure that they don't get themselves killed until they snap out of whatever that fog that most teens are in is called. If the whole friend thing happens that's great, but being liked by your kid shouldn't take precedence over raising them right.

my view is on teens is that most teens think there indestructable ,especially between 10 and 16, adn its part of a parents job, albiet not all to ground them, give them some perspective, without saying "i have to work for you" try adn get your kids to appreciate the way you work for them nto becuase you have to but because you love them.

Don't forget the fact that you can't tell them anything because they have it all figured out. Who needs wikipedia? Teenagers know everything.
